The weekends nowadays are less disguised from a workday, since work from home has been the new normal. As I finished reading an article on CNBC about V-shaped economic recovery from Coronavirus impact, my LinkedIn message alert pop. It was someone whom I knew a few years ago. He lost his job and was told on a 5 mins Zoom call, a company where he worked for the last eight years.
Every other day I learn of many known people in the social network who are now in the job market. The company lost its funding; the work being moved; teams consolidating; Fired; Mergers and cost reductions to weather economic uncertainty or “COVID Effect.” Usually, that’s because they need a job, all of a sudden, a need to jump into a networking mode. I am really okay with that, and its always good to hear from friends and people in networks. I’ve been through many tough times in my career, and I can absolutely imagine what it is like to be in this situation.
Like marketing a product or selling a service, finding a job is pretty much alike. It’s about marketing yourself and communicating effectively the value you bring. I thought of writing this article for those who are looking for new jobs or will soon be looking for it as they graduate.
